Gearing For Battle for Azeroth
Gear in Battle for Azeroth (BFA) is designed around a fresh perspective; there are equivalent gearing paths and gear from any content has a small chance to proc the highest possible item level. Here is a rundown of the different types of ways you can gear up at the start of Battle for Azeroth before Mythic+ Dungeons and Raids.
You will need ilvl 320 to queue up for Uldir LFR and Warfronts. How Battle for Azeroth Gear WorksInstead of picking an activity that rewards a piece of gear at a specific ilvl, most gear has a small chance to appear at the maximum ilvl from any activity.
If an item appears up to 10 ilvls above the base, it will be marked as Warforged in the tooltip. If an item procs +15 or higher, it will be marked as Titanforged. For example, If you love solo questing, there's a small chance your rewards from World Quests can Titanforge and be the same level as loot from a Mythic Dungeon.
Note that Azerite Armor cannot Warforge/Titanforge, and Weapons can only Warforge up to +10 item levels.
The personal loot system continues to be tweaked in Battle for Azeroth (there is no longer a group/master loot options), however if you win an item of the same or lower ilvl than your current one, then you can trade it to others in the group
Getting Azerite ArmorSince Azerite Armor cannot titanforge, if you're in need of a piece you can always go and do an activity that rewards you with the highest ilvl piece instead of doing all of them and hoping for a titanforge.
Item level of dungeon gear is based on the difficulty of the dungeon. Most gear can Titanforge any number of times until the current item level cap (400 after Mythic raid is available). Weapons can only Warforge up to +10 item levels from the base item level listed below, and Azerite Armor pieces can not Warforge at all.
Note that the item level of rewards from the End of Dungeon, Weekly Chest and Azerite Armor from Weekly Chest don't scale at the same pace.
